Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Services offers Pre-Marriage Seminars for couples who plan to be married. Couples who are already married may also attend. The seminars are conducted by Dr. William C. Hedrick, an ordained minister and the Executive Director for TPCS. He has led pre-marriage seminars for area churches for more than ten years.

The all-day seminars are designed to help you and your partner become acquainted on a deeper level of understanding. Discussions focus on the central issues of modern marriage, expectations for your future together and how to resolve the inevitable conflicts that come with day-to-day living.

Participants have the advantage of learning their own personality styles, using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. As you gain understanding about your own individuality and that of your partner, you become more able to accept each other's feelings, ideas and behaviors.

The Pre-Marriage Seminars emphasize openness as the key to a satisfying relationship. Practice sessions will teach fair, honest ways of communicating without competing.
