Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Services is fully accredited by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors as a Training Center.

We provide a wide variety of family life educational events for local congregations or judicatories, as well as training for staff development and support. These events can be contracted with any member of the clinical staff.

Presently, there are three opportunities for religious professionals to further their education and training:

• The Pastoral Counseling Track

• The Doctor of Ministry Degree in conjunction with Garrett Evangelical Seminary in Chicago and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary

The Pastoral Counseling Track:
Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Services has designed a Certification Program in Pastoral Counseling for those who are actively involved in ministry and have limited amounts of uninterrupted time for professional development. Participants may simultaneously work toward:

• Clinical membership at the Member, Fellow or Diplomat level in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors,

• Doctor of Ministry degree with Garrett Evangelical Seminary, or Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary

• Virginia state licensure.

Courses and supervision may also be taken for professional development without AAPC membership, degree or licensure in mind.

Admission Requirements:

• Three years in parish ministry

• Approved theological degree

• Statement of professional purpose

• Personal interview

Tuition:

• Fifty hour course: $500

• Supervision Only: $300

• Theory Only (Didactic): $300

• Individual hourly supervision: $60
